Thoughts about Holland vol.9.
2006.07.29. My birthday

Gefeliciteerd!
Oh well I am a year older. This is my first birthday alone, and this was the time when I realized that not the big dates are important whether you have somebody there or not. Today I felt a lot better that yesterday when a bit of languidity caught me and was not in a good mood at all. Thank God I have friends who can hoick me out of this state. (Bea, Kristóf, Tomi köszi a lelkisegélyért!!) So, with renewed energy I started off the day with going to the bank in order to open an account.
Cultural shock!!! I stepped in, the guy at the information desk asked me what I wanted to do, and after telling him he assured me he would arrange an appointment for me, and offered me a seat (even helped while seating!!!!!) and also asked if I wanted to drink a coffee or anything else. Still dizzy of the shock I said thank you I am fine. (haha my pronunciation of dank u wel is perfect) I only had to wait for a minute and a girl came, well how should I put she was probably not originally dutch.. and she introduced herself, we shook hands and she took me to her desk. Seated me and sat down herself. She turned the monitor so I could also see what she was doing. Explaining every small detail very patiently, I was amazed. What's more, I will be allowed to choose a PIN code for my bank card.
This went really easy, everybody was so polite and couteous, meant a real recreation to go to the bank.
After this I went to Rotterdam, because today there was the Zomercarnaval, a huge street parade with all kinds of world music, so it was not only latin and brazilian, but there was an arabic truck as well. I walked along the whole route and saw I think only half of the whole caravan, but then I decided to follow the brazilian truck, because they played a lot of the music I knew, so I had a good time. A girl on the truck spotted out that I am following them and also dancing so she waved me that I should get on the truck. I thought for first it is not a good idea, but after she waved me for the secong time I though why not, at least they would decorate me with flags and stuff plus would get water and energy drinks for free. Finally the security guy didn't let me up, but still I didn't mind it was funny.
After almost 4 hours of waking and dancing around on the sun (was quite a caribic weather today) I felt I had enough if it, but if I wouldn't have had a headache I am pretty sure I would have stayed longer. I always felt so safe even in the crowd, so it was far from the BudapestParádé.. where even the music is crappy but all the stupid mass goes there and does not care about anything or anyone. Here it was nice. Even alone, because everyone was friendly and genuinely happy. (have to admit that you could smell people smoking weed quite a lot of times) And I even liked Rotterdam. Everyone says its ugly and too modern. Yes modern it is, but hey at least it is something for a change. Or maybe I see it like this as I was always living in a big city, so these are the places where I really feel myself at home and enjoy staying. Dunno. Still, after the bombing they rebuilt some buildings, so it is not only tall and modern stuff all around. I personally liked it, but have to go back and look around properly because this time it was too crowded to do sightseeing. There is also a museum I want to visit there.
That was it for Rotterdam, went home and cooked dinner.
In the evening two flatmates (Remko and Jeroen) took me out to drink a couple of beers. We wanted to sit down at the Beestemarkt (imagine Liszt Ferenc tér in Budapest but smaller and cosier) but it was full, so instead we went to a really small pub, which had a nice internal garden and about 20 types of draught beer, and another 30 types bottled. (ok maybe not that much, it seemed a lot, but I didn't count....just like the letters of our abc) The guy behing the bar knew a lot about specialty beers and could even explain in English. I know I shouldn't be surprised anymore at this beacuse I think even the cleaning ladies and other hygenic workers (wcs néni...) speak English here. So we got to try nice specialty beers, both Dutch and Belgian ones. I think it is needless to mention that the guys drank double the amount as I did.. but it is risky to get drunk if you have to cycle home... There was a nice type of beer I really liked, the name is Kwak, the sound the duck makes... it really tasted like a nice ale I had in London, of course I didn't want to share this thought with the guys probably they would have shot me :)) (Kristóf ha jössz akkor tudod hova viszlek!!!)
This is how I spent my birthday, now I will go and cook lunch.
Eet smakelijk!

Thoughts about Holland vol.8.

wow another week passed by... I had to discover that I am already a month ago here in the Netherlands, and I guess I have accustomed myself to the life here. I like it here, really. Only thing is that I am not used to this calm pace how I am living at the moment. Sometimes I really miss my chaotic life where I never had a free second to sit down and wonder about things. Here I have maybe a bit too much of time left for me and my thoughts. Although I really needed a rest, so that is why I am still enjoying this semi-isolation of mine. It is fairly difficult to gather people around me, both at workplace and at home. I mean people I can share my thoughts with. I can always find people who would drink a beer with me no problem with that!! LOL, these guys drink beer really hard. They see it as a profession or even art.

Last sunday after the trip in Haarlem I decided to go to the beach, since I wanted to walk around there, and besides it was really warm so I thought that was the best thing I could do. You know my tan is getting really impressive by know. I never thought that I would return from Holland nicely tanned, but it appears so. Scheveningen itself is not that interesting, just imagine a busy seaside resort with hotels and a lot of tourists. Germans, mostly. I was just wondering again that maybe it is me the only Hungarian in this country, because I never hear a Hungarian word. (Except with Kriszti in Amsterdam a big bunch of Hungarian tourists swearing like hell...) Or they are also lonely wolves like I am so they would never speak Hungarian on the streets. Hmm. Who knows.
The Kurhaus Hotel has a nice building, in fact the only nice one along the shore, and there is a lighthouse if you walk towards the port, but that's about it. Snack bars offering you greasy and absolutely unhealthy stuff and boutiques with the regular beach equipments. Having seen this I went back to the northern beach and laid down in the sand. After some time suddenly I heard one of my favourite Brazilian songs so I got up and tried to look what's happening. Well at one of the beach clubs whole afternoon it was a samba and axé workshop so some Brazilian and Dutch people were dancing, and showing the choreographies, one could just join and catch up. Who do you think was the first one to join?? Bingo, me :)) this encouraged others as well, but they were surprised that they cannot adjust that easily... These guys and girls were so nice with me, asked me where I learned samba, and showed me directly some stuff, was really cool!! So after 2 hours of dancing with them I became really exhausted and went home to have a well deserved shower, but I had a lot of fun there.

During the week, on Thursday I had to go to Leiden to the taxation office and get my tax and social security number (SoFi number). Haha I am almost Dutch!!! I have this number now I feel like a citizen, not a tourist anymore!!!
Zsófi, a friend from high school now was in Breda for a month to finish her double degree, and she decided to join me, so in the afternoon and evening we were just walking around the city and chatting a lot. (Miki to bad for you, you missed this...) We had a meal at the Maoz chain. So far I have never tried this 'cause alone I wouldn't eat out even in this fast food thing. Here you can only eat veggie stuff. What we had were falafel balls put into a wholemeal (!) pita with and then you can fill it up with salad and sauce of your own choice, and can return to the salad bar as many times you want. That was a really cool thing, beacuse even the balls were fried you could still compensate for that fat with all those nice salads.
We had a nice Italian cappucino along the big canal, of course taking on the habit of the locals that everyone sits to face the square or the canal. So you never sit in front of eachother, but beside and looking into the came direction. Then came this freaky old man with a funny pair of glasses, and he was talking to us in a strange mixture of spanish italian dutch english and who knows what further languages. As we couldn't really figure out what he was about to say we were just smiling, then he left.
Leiden was nice. This was the first time I could really walk around, even if this was already my third time there. I guess life in Leiden must be really nice, and it is much more a student town compared to Delft. Here not much happens. There it looks it does. So I would gladly move there, but work is here so complaints.

Work, ahh my collegues were shocked when I told them we have 44 letters in our abc!! (OK have to confess I remembered there were 46 until I counted them:)) So I had to send them to see it. Of course they don't see the point of using so many accents and double letters. They said I probably understood Finnish perfectly if I can use these freaky letters. Had to disappoint them, that I understand absolutely nothing from Finnish apart from 'Moi!'. It means hello/bye, but in Hungarian the same pronunciation means moth..
Btw have to tell you that my Dutch is improving, I get to understand more....

kusjes goede vrienden,

Thoughts about Holland vol.7.
Haarlem
2006.07.22.

Today I decided to go to Haarlem after a big hesitation, 'cause I couldn't decide if I wanted to go to Groningen, Utrecht or to Amsterdam again. Then came the saviour idea, Haarlem.

Probably first associations are connected to Harlem, which is part of New York (and not the nicest..). Well as you may know New York was founded by the Dutch in 1613 and was called New Amsterdam earlier on. Then came the brits in 1664 (alright I had to look this up, I am not a walking history book after all....) and called it New York after the count of York. Funny..

Ok so Haarlem, well this is the fifth biggest city in the Netherlands, so it is fairly big (compared to Delft), and it is 15 mintues away from Amsterdam to the west, so that means it is 40 minutes by train from Delft to the north. I took a lot of notes, because so often something came into my mind, and somehow I just like to make sure that I don't forget things. That's why i am writing a diary.

On the way I saw several flower fields, and even though they were not as impressive as they probably are during the spring it was still nice view from the train. I discovered that at the moment they are growing heather, daffodils and gladiolus (kardvirág in hun). The other thing I discovered during my stay here, that they use every little square meter of land for something useful, even if it ends up to place an industrial park right beside small weekend huts. Everything seems so peaceful as if this was the best way to arrange lands. At least it seems so.

Haarlem is really a romantic place. I just simply loved it! The streets, the houses, the shops, the cafés, everything!! (even the coffee shops look nice, too bad I still refuse pot..) So this was a good decision of mine, as I arrived to the Grote Markt, the main market place I saw that there is a market going on, it was just so nice, because there weren't any tourists except me, so I could really get a breeze of their lifestyle. On the market square you see the Stadhuis, the city hall, which is a really impressive building already, but then you turn back and discover the Vleeshal (former meat market), which is even more impressive, and only then you see the Sint Bavo Kerk, or as they simply call it Grote Kerk. Big it is for such a small town once Haarlem could be.
You know there was a separate bell tower for the church, because the church had to be able to ring ten different tones, and the place was not enough for so many types of bells. Because the bells were ringing for example to warn the people that an execution is going on at the scaffold at the city hall; or when the city gates were closing, but my favourite is that they had a unique tune to remind people of the glory of Haarlem. I guess these are the things where national pride comes from, which I would definitely not equal with nationalism. This is just a healthy attitude towards your home country.
While looking for the entrance of the church I had to discover that there are a lot of small shops built just beside the walls of the church (at the moment really posh hairdresser, then Louis Voitton etc..), and even the entrance is through one of these. Starts interesting.. the church was originally roman catholic, but as the dutch turned to the reformed religion they whitewashed the walls, therefore the interior is really simple. The ceiling is covered with cedar wood, really unique and spactacular. Even so, the most amazing part of the church is really the organ. Enormous!! I even got to know that Händel and Mozart have also tried it and both had a good opinion on it, there are quite a number of concerts held here.

Going on my walk in Haarlem I got to the river Spaarne. This was the main source of Haarlem's glory, they were trading with textiles, and then later on brewery has become another main industry of theirs. The Gravestenenbrug is a bridge only for pedestrians, you also have to get off your bike, because the surface is not flat at all, but triangular. The canal is really impressive, nice houses are framing the river. I made my journey a bit longer to enjoy these houses and then take a turn to find the Frans Hals Museum.

Frans Hals was a painter who has been working and living in Haarlem among other great big masters, but surely he is the most famous of all. He has been painting portraits for rich families, but also did a lot of militia paintings. I liked how he paints the characters, very detailed, the people almost come to life, every texture and pattern so lively! Even I am not a big fond of the 16th century paintings, he's the guy I really admire, because his paintings highly excel from the others'. The museum itself was a great entertainment, because it had a very creative introductory section, where they had a few pictures of the city, the countryside and the people enlarged, and they filled them with historical data or interesting facts, so you got to now a lot about the city before actually seeing the collection. I enjoyed it a lot!!!!
Then when you come out you are enchanted from the street where the museum is. Lots of really small and typical houses and all look completely the same, and have trees in front of them. Lovely!

Well that was it for Haarlem, on my way back it started raining so I was lucky to avoid that. All day it was so humid, cloudy but still really warm.. not pleasant at all. That's why you should have an enntertaining program like I did, I highly recommend a visit if you are somewhere close!!!

That's all folks! For now at least. Take care.

2006.07.18.

Happy Birthday Zsófi!!

Well well, today I was working as every weekday so no surprise in that. In the evening I was busy with keeping contact with all of you people ( yes, it really takes time and effort!!! but this is the type of sacrifice I readily make), when a flatmate (Rutger this time) was knocking on my door asking me if I wanted to join him and his friend to the cinema that night to watch second part of Pirates of the Carribean. I said SURE, so I shut down my laptop immediately, changed clothes, and again prooved I could be a soldier of being ready so rapidly...haha

You have no idea how nice multiplex cinema (bioscoop) Delft has!! I was amazed. AND!! I could buy a student ticket with my international student ID. Which is pretty cool, since I cannot use it at museums, remember? Still was bloody expensive, this one thing is surely the best to do in Hungary where the expensive ticket would cost you a maximum of 4 euros, and here the student ticket was 8. No surprise there, in Vienna it was the same. Except the fact that there I had to go to one of the TWO English cinemas to watch original versions... on the contrary here nothing is dubbed, everything is in original version, even on TV. Cool, so I can even watch the movies on TV in English and pick up some Dutch as reading the subtitles.

Alright, back to the cinema. I think I don't have to mention that the best selling product at the buffet is not coke or popcorn, but beer (bier)... No fixed seats on your ticket, just grab a seat you like. Alright probably the cinema is never full...so no fights for seats. Movie starts yippie!! I love it, soo funny, and you don't need to make efforts to follow the story 'cause it does not make any sense anyways, so just sit and enjoy. BUT!!!!!! All of a sudden they cut the movie and a big PAUZE writing (apart from shocking me..) warns you that you have 15 minutes now to buy another beer and get rid of the one you just took... Grrrr annoying. Although Rutger told me that not all of the cinema chains do these breaks, but still... alright alright just be flexible, no point of annoying yourself on every small difference. There must remain things which are better at home after all, no?

Strange movie indeed, the end leaves you in the middle of the happenings, although you are not that confident about every detail and cause and causal factor, but I told you it is irrelevant. Soundtrack is still really cool so big hooray for Hans Zimmer again!! Chris I can't wait to hear you play it!

We were riding back from the cinema around 1 am. and suddenly Rutger's friend shouts that LOOK! We pulled our brakes and stopped, and just looked at the sky. WOW!! A falling star (vallende ster) !! I have never seen such a beautiful one! It was big, and you could see it for long moments. We were just standing in the middle of the empty street with our bikes and watching... We even forgot to wish something, but I don't mind, it was certainly a phenomenon! My collegues told me maybe it was a plummeting airplane, if it was so big.. and asked me if I heard the crash and explosion afterwards.. haha very funny, I am very conscious it was a falling star.

Well, this is all about the falling stars of Delft, seeya later on!

Thoughts about Holland vol.5.

It would be more appropriate if I used the Netherlands instead of Holland, beacause Holland is just a part of the whole country. There are other parts/regions/shires or whatever you call them, these parts namely North Holland, Zuid Holland, Zeeland, North Brabant, Limburg, Utrecht, Gelderland, Flevoland, Overijssel, Drenthe, Friesland, the Western Frisian Islands and Groningen. Quite many, and the Americans still use the form Holland. Alright alright I don't have to go too far, because we Hungarians use the same form along with other nations. How smart it is from the French and the Spanish to call it Pays bas / Países Bajos! Low country/ies. Certainly it is a low country. I have read that the lowest point is 6,74 m below the sea level, which is at Gouda (yesyes home of the Gouda cheese - kaas), approximately 20 kms from me to the East.

Today I am having a day off, no excursion, so I have some time to write.

The weather is really nice, my collegues always say that it is pretty unusual to have such nice weather for so many weeks in a row, so probably it is me who brought it with me. LOL, maybe, but if I did, in Budapest it would be constantly raining. In fact it is not, sunny weeks over there!

Yesterday I was at the seaside, the most popular resort called Scheveningen. And what is the coolest about it? In order to get there I only have to take the tram at the corner where I live and takes me straight there. About 45 minutes of tram ride, but you can see whole Hague along the way, the Parliament and the International Court of Justice and World Forum sites as well. The Hague is just sooo nice. I could imagine myself living there for a while. Whereas in Amsterdam I don't think I wanted to. I just didn't feel myself at home at all.

Scheveningen is a vivid little place, full of tourists and native people of course, but to be honest I heard more German and Russian words than Dutch. The beach itself is quite similar to the one I have been in Texel. Sandy beach, and small grassy hills along the shore. During low tide (as it was now) you have to take a long walk in order to reach the water. This time I was much more reluctant about going in, but I said I have to try. This time I spent 5 minutes in the water but just went until the water touched my knees. Sorry, I am weak. This sea is not designed for me. My flatmate went in twice, but we have to mention that he is the native person, so probably in his DNA it is coded somewhere that he shouldn't mind that the sea is freezing cold. LOL, I was really wondering about that!!
There is a large luxurious hotel along the beach, the Kurhaus, which is in fact a really impressive building. Oh and they built an enourmous pier really deeply into the sea, they are so proud about it, but to be honest I think it's not nice at all. Unique for sure, but I think the only functional use of it is that you can do bungee jumping from the end of it. Anyway I still owe the town a big walk, because this time it was really a regular beach visit: enjoying the sun. I guess I would have a solid tan by the end of the three months if things go on like this. LOL, Riccardo want to have a race? Btw, as you wrote me that I should be a Lonely Planet author I am always thinking about that. Maybe I should publish this blog as a book... Too bad I don't get to know good recipes here so it wouldn't be a gastro-bestseller. haha

In the evening I went to Leiden for a house warming party with a friend of mine, that's about a 20 minutes train ride to the North. I think I haven't told this before, that the internal migration in the country is between Delft and Leiden. The reason is really simple. In Delft there is a technical university (TU Delft), so 90% of the students are guys. Whereas in Leiden you may find a university (Universiteit Leiden) which has several faculties: Law, Natural Sciences, Medicine, Philosophy, Creative and Performing Arts, Social Sciences. Here the majority of students are girls, although not as strong majority as in Delft, but still. So if you want the people to form couples you certainly need the migration somehow, no?

So, Leiden. There was a huge happening over there, because it was yesterday 400 years ago that Rembrandt was born in Leiden (easy to calculate but I will put it here: 15 July 1606). Therefore the city was celebrating, and the was a big procession on the canal, and on each boat they projected with people dressed in the most renowned paintings of Rembrandt. On the main boat the was a guy who was playing Rembrandt himselft, he was standing in front of an easel and holding brushes and a palettein his hands. Of course there were a zillion spectators compared to the size of Leiden, and the music in the background made excellent ambience. Although when we were moving ahead, we got to experience the disadvantage of the canals. Terrible smell!! Fish and sewage.. brrr. So at this point we made our steps faster, and finally reached the place we were going to, a nice little house in a very romantic street. In fact very quiet, but nobody really cared that half of the party was going on before the house on the street.

After having warmed up the house we started off to find a club to go out to, but the range of offers is not that distinctively wide, so we jumped into one we found. Well, I wouldn't compare it to the Passage, or even Kaiko, but still we had a nice time there. Finally we took the night train back to Delft. Actually we had to switch for a night bus, but got back home safely. Sunrise was on its way, so what do you know, I went to bed when it was already light... (before 6 a.m...)

While I am writing these lines it is 9:45 p.m. and still completely light. That's the nice thing about being up North...

alright bis bald drágáim,

Kusjes

Thoughts about Holland vol.4.

Hola amigos!!

This time I am writing in English so that all of you could read. I know that Hungarian does not belong to the most frequently spoken languages, so here I am adapting to the needs of the readers :) I'll try to be as enchanting and funny as I am if I write in Hungarian! Haha

Wow this weekend was fairly busy. Kriszti was over in Holland for a week, visiting Coen, a friend of hers who was on exchange last year in Budapest. We have been talking about it earlier on that we should meet up while she is here, so it was no surprise, still a nice program. Was so nice to meet Kriszti, we had big chats, all including guys of course and we were laughing a lot!

On Saturday the guys, Coen and his friend Edwin have taken us to Texel island, which is fairly north, an hour by car from Amsterdam. We took a ferry to bring us to the island. Wow that ferry was enormous!! Ok, I have seen quite a few ferries in my life, but this was huuuge! Moreover, if we compare it to its traffic it may seem ridiculous. It was not even 20% filled with cars on a sunny saturday in the middle of the summer!! Imagine how many people use it during the winter...
Anyhow we arrived at Texel, which is part of the Frisian Islands that is considered to have a rich fauna of several unique bird species. Well, the only birds we saw were a great number of seagulls (zeemeeuw). Ok, have to admit that we didn't go for a bird watch :) but to the beach... Getting to the beach we were crossing the village named De Cocksdorp. (village of the... well in dutch cock does not mean the bird, only has the other, more colloqial meaning of you know what...) Oh those of you who read for the first time, what I mark with orange is either something important, or some words in dutch 'cause I am trying to catch up as much as possible.
So cocksville is pretty much like Siófok. One difference: a lot cleaner! ok two: you either see pensioners or teenagers going for vacation wiithout their parents for the first time. So not really our age.
Still, the beach (zeestrand) is very picturesque, a long sandy beach with high grass along the road, and with small dressing cabins. Fairly strong wind so you don't feel the strength of the sun.
Kriszti and I had real intentions to go into the sea, but after having felt on our ankles that is is FREEZING COLD we had to give up with the idea. Anyhow we had a nice walk along the beach while the guys were enjoying the sun. Alright you have to know something about dutch people's sunbathing habits. They always get red! Not only because their skin is white, but they never use suntan oil, and they are incapable of measuring when they should stop. So, the result is red skin, and probably a fairly high risk of skin cancer when they grow older. I wonder what the percentages are.....

Coen had some really important party to attend so he practically left for the evening and what is more, he took Edwin as well. No comment.. BUT we got his apartment, so it was two of us girls in Amersfoort, which is really close to Utrecht, about half an hour east from Amsterdam. Nice city! Completely different from Delft though. Or at least I think so. Maybe I became such a localpatriot that I find Delft the most special place to live? Could be... Anyhow we were walking in the evening in Amersfoort, and enjoying the streets and nice squares with attracting atmosphere. We even got to discover that in Amersfoort female is the strong gender. Why? Easy. On the pedestrian traffic lights (semafoor) the figures are GIRLS!! With a skirt, high heels, and pony tail. Yepp yepp:) OR could be a guy in female clothes....we saw example for that in Amsterdam..

On Sunday we decided to go for a trip ourselves and discover the famous museums of Amsterdam. Since it could rain any moment we thought this is the wisest thing to do, also considering that the guys (Edwin I don't know but Coen for sure) probably wouldn't have enjoyed as much as we did.
First impressions of Amsterdam? Hmm. It's nice, really nice, but I don't think I would want to live there. For me Hague is the winner. Everything is so colorful, which sometimes just ruins the historic city picture completely and makes you feel like in some chaotic world and not in the neat country of the dutch. Anyhow, it surely has quite a few nice places! The Dam square with the new church and the royal palace ( Nieuwe Kerk & Koninlijk Paleis) to mention a few.

We were crossing all the nice canals to finally reach the Rijksmuseum, which is the most renowned museum of Amsterdam, or as they abbreviate: A'dam. We had to stand the line to get in, but it went pretty fast, still a nice girl came to distribute small chocolates as compensation for the inconvenience. Incredible, isn't it? We were amazed. And then we finally got to the cashier desk, we were pretty annoyed that they don't have any student reductions. Not even for native people!!! So having payed the 10 bucks (Fred I learned this from u, that I use bucks for euros...) for entrance we went through all the impressing rooms, and saw some of Jan Vermeer van Delft's, Frans Hals's and of course Rembrant van Rijn's pictures. It is this place where u can see Rembrant's most famous painting, the Nightwatch (De Nachtwacht). It is placed in a small cinema hall and only limited number of visitors go in at once, and watch an audiovisual show, where they project all kinds of light effects on the painting and add sounds as well, thus telling the story of the picture's theme. WOW that was sooo cool! We were really impressed!

One does not have to walk too much from the Rijksmuseum to get to the other big hit, the Van Gogh Museum! Again no student reduction.. As a big van of Vincent I was really looking forward to this collection, and I may say that I was really pleased with it! You can see his paintings in chronological order, and nearly all of the paintings has a small comment (in English as well), so you can follow how his life turned. He always drew sketches in his letters to his brother, and he always promised him he would start to sell the pics soon. Poor guy he never sold a single pic!! He was practically dependant on his bro, and when he told Vincent he has to tighten the belt a bit 'cause Theo wanted to start up a new business, Vincent shot himself because he already felt so instable both mentally and physically. Hmm interesting. Oh if you might think that he cut off kis full ear, I have to disappoint you, 'cause it was only a small part of his earlobe. Still, kinda freaky, isn't it? Good old Vincent I really like your pics!! This museum even evoked my memories of Arles, although that was a long time ago....maybe I was 11 or so..

The food is not very appealing I have to say. All restaurants are a bit, hmm how shall I put it..in Hungarian it's LEPUKKANT. Ok let's say not neat and clean. I really miss the good old Hungarian cafeterias! For two reasons: 1. they have ambience, 2. they sell Italian coffee, which is absolutely unbeatable.
What else? Oh yes, the many times mentioned coffee shops. I really don't have a clue what is so special in them. They look awful! Imagine a really ugly KOCSMA in some small village Hungary, with all green stuff and smoke with smiling but moveless people. You know even if I had the intention to smoke pot I would never put my feet into those places! I don't mind people doing it, just leave me out. But it's funny that all of them say they are the best in town... :)

Well that is what I saw so far from A'dam but I am surely coming again, still lot to visit!! By the way, it is for sure a shopping haven!! There are so many nice things for fair price. I just don't get it how the dutch girls can dress up so horribly sometimes, even if they have really cool stuff to choose from.

OK enough for now, seeya later!

Ennyit a cégről általában.

Biztonsági okokból le vagyok tiltva a commercial email siteokról, ideértve a webmessengert is. Damn. Na mindegy, amúgy hálisten nem unatkozom ezért talán jobb is. Télleg az iwiw elvileg nincs letiltva…. Hmm next time.

A Markton a souvenir üzletek rogyásig tömve delfti kék porcelánnal.

Szóval Jant is láttam.

Vicces.

2006.06.26.

Schiphol Airport. Wow. Ez nagy. Hatalmas.
Aztán megláttam a feliratot: Surinam Airlines. Nahát. Ennyit a gyarmatokról. Suriname-ra valóban ekkora a forgalom?

A szállás elég tipikusan műegyetemisták lakta hely.

Delft szinte ráépült Hágára, összeér a két város majdnem.

Mindenki biciklizik. A gyümölcs olcsó.

A holland nyelv csúnya. Vicces h mikre adnak…
